You should not try to install a traditional ceiling fan in an ordinary light socket. A full-size ceiling fan normally uses dedicated mounting hardware and wiring. However, a purpose-built socket fan light is different: it is specifically designed to screw into a compatible lamp socket, such as an E27 socket, and combine a compact fan with an LED light.

When can a fan be used in a light socket?

Measure the surrounding clearance. Fan blades need unobstructed space. Measure nearby walls, cabinets, beams and other fixtures before ordering.

Switch off power before installation. Turn off the wall switch and, where appropriate, isolate power before removing the existing bulb or installing the new fixture.
