16 Pin DIP IC Base/Socket

This is an 16 pin IC socket that is used as a base for 16 pin ICs with DIP package. It has wide enough holes to allow easy insertion of ICs. With this component, designers can mount the IC directly to the PCB or  without having to solder the IC directly to the PCB. Because the IC is not soldered directly to the PCB, it can be easily replaced or reused in other circuits as per requirement. Commonly, the 16 pin IC base is used in prototypes / PCB circuit design testing. They can be joined end to end when working with ICs with more than 16 pins. The contacts of the IC base are tin-plated to reduce oxidation.
